Tjinta Pearse has spent the last 20 years working with vulnerable children, youth and families, & as a Play Therapist. Tjinta is from Australia’s Northern Beaches and has also lived in Papua New Guinea & Indonesia.

Tjinta says she was inspired to work in Play Therapy through working with families affected by domestic violence, mental health issues, and addiction related issues. I realised that as a community, we need to break this cycle. Through Play Therapy, we can offer children a child focused, integrated therapy that promotes and creates healing from the inside out. Tjinta feels that Play Therapy generates a respectful and empathic environment for children.

Tjinta explains that she really enjoys Sandplay Therapy and symbolic, imaginative play as I feel these types of play bring about the most obvious healing.

Jennie’s initial qualifications were in early education before advancing onto a bachelor’s degree in Applied Social Studies in Social Care. This led Jennie to spend the next eight years working in out-of-home care, working mainly within the residential services in Ireland. Jennie says, play therapy became an integral part of working with some of my clients, which encouraged to me to undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in Non-Directive Play Therapy with the University of York in 2006. I have been qualified in Play Therapy since 2008 and am still as passionate about it as the day I started.

I first became inspired by Play Therapy and the impact it has when I became the support person for a client who attended Play Therapy. I became in awe of the relationship that developed between the therapist and the client amazing impact it played in the child’s life. The level of acceptance and understanding through an authentic relationship gave this child confidence in her own ability to process and deal with trauma that she had encountered.

Jennie explains that she loves watching children emotionally grow & helping them move forward with their lives.
